Art Basel Miami Week - Thursday - Sunday, Dec 1-4, 2011
Event hours: 12p-5p (closed from 5p-6p) 6p-midnight Special Performances, Bands, DJ's, FASHION SHOW.

Event Location: 193 NW 24th Street, Miami FL ( Google Map: http://g.co/maps/jn847 )
Miami: prepare to be wow-ed this December with a new and unique one-of-a-kind arts experience! From December 1-4, in the heart of the Wynwood Art District, you will be introduced to more than 120 of South Florida’s best and artists from all around the world. By encompassing almost 5,000 square feet, Multiversal will showcase their best visual and performance works under tented and open-air space in this can’t miss event.
Among our artists, you will find both established and emerging names from around the world. Their media will span fine arts, live art, sculpture, urban art, installations, photography, body painting, fashion and film festivals. Around the artwork will swirl a vortex of belly dancers, BBOY's, fire dancers, acrobats, exhibitionists, and extemporaneous theater — all to the rhythm of live and recorded music. Open to the public from Thursday-Sunday for an estimated 49 hours — more than any other scheduled Art Basel production — this will truly be a multiversal human experience.
The show will have a tented space and outdoor exhibit, conveniently located in the heart of Miami's Wynwood Art District next to the Dorsch Gallery.
DON’T MISS OUT ON THE MULTIVERSAL MIAMI 2011 EXPERIENCE!
One of the best aspects of this show is that all of the money raised stays here in our community. Life Is Art, More Than Art Group and Multiversal Art Group are all dedicated to supporting the arts in south Florida. This sets it apart from many of the other shows.

blessings for my homies
Stayed in Santa Monica with my main man Lu Diamondz this last weekend at our friends Trigger, Eddie and Danny's casita.
Such warm welcomes with some fresh herbs from their garden, fresh tomatoes, eggplant and banana/chocolate chip pancakes. Fresh plums from Eddie's girls place in San Fran, and some local love from LA Vegan.
After spending a few days kicken back, hanging at the beach and chilling in the dojo, it was about time to go-go. Round 2am the morning we were set to fly out of LAX, I looked down at the scrap cans we had left over from our day painting at the Venice Art Walls, and was inspired to leave some color at the crib.
To Trigger, Eddie, Danny, French Guy, Squid and Namek - we had a hoot <3 one love from miami - kaz and lou

EL MAC AND RETNA - "Let the arts roam" (via @MAC_ARTE)
Let The Arts Roam from I Am Los Angeles on Vimeo.
This is a new video just released by I Am Los Angeles / Joris Debeij that I think came out really nice. It documents some of the creation of my most recent collaborative mural with Retna for a school in LA, across from MacArthur Park. Here's their description for the video:
"Wherever they go, they try to make something that makes sense for the neighborhood, and the community. And they always make something positive, something the artists hope people can enjoy -- regardless of whether life has greeted them with great fortune. Armed with a vision and their cans of spray paint, El Mac and Retna will transform a forgotten wall into a piece of art.
El Mac and Retna are street artists, born in LA. They use building walls as blank canvases for their imagery, and the duo has collaborated to create murals all over the world. El Mac and Retna have very different styles, and have been collaborating the last few years. They combine their artistic forces in a specific way: El Mac creates huge lifelike portraits and Retna, calligraphic brushwork and decoration. The result is striking imagery that is unique and recognizable as theirs. It's not uncommon for street art fans and documentarians to gather to watch the progression of an El Mac and Retna work in progress.
El Mac and Retna art feels appropriate for the street because the artists themselves embrace the city streets, the different neighborhoods, and the blend of cultures and backgrounds of the people that fill them. Street art, including the work of El Mac and Retna, also reflects a new attitude about accessibility to art in our environments. "Why not see all the walls painted," says Retna. "Let the Arts Roam!"

Crewest and Curator Luna George is proud to announce the opening of our newest installation “UNEARTHED”, which will exist on our walls as a larger than life visual comic book brought to life by some of our best graffiti and street urban artists. With a storyline written by author and artist Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca, the walls of the gallery will become an actual comic book live for all to see and immerse themselves into. In addition, Crewest will publish and release “UNEARTHED” the comic book art featuring the artwork in the exhibit and storyline just in time for this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Art for sale at the gallery opening.
“UNEARTHED” features works by underground urban artists from around the world who have created visual elements in the form of never before seen characters who unearth from the underground in the year of 2012 on the day of the Apocalypse. We are very excited about this unique pairing of underground urban ,street art telling the tale of an Apocalyptic 2012 within the context of a art gallery exhibition. Concept created by Luna George.

3D Holographic Fashion Show by Tim Jockel
3D Holographic Fashion Show
by Tim Jockel
Year: 2011 | Agency: Bakery | Role: Concept, Design, Motion Design, 3D
The question was how to communicate the philosophy behind the new collection of German "Haute Couture" fashion designer Stefan Eckert in a better way. The answer was the world's first complete 3D holographic fashion show. I teamed up with director Florian Sigl to create the visual concept for the show and how to express the collection within this special medium as best as possible. After shooting with a high speed camera I did all stages of post production, from 3D to motion graphics to compositing.
The result was one of the biggest holographic projections ever which creates a complete optical illusion and breaks the rules of time and space on stage.
The video below is a montage of key scenes from the show, some live captured moments and some behind-the-scene-shots. (more videos on vimeo/timjockel)

KAZILLA's Narwhal and his story
"Stranded on a chunk of ice adrift in the Arctic Circle, after loosing his fins in a Leopard Seal attack, our Narwhal sinks into sadness. As he weaves in and out of the days spent floating in the listless sea, the night lights grow dim. The Aurora Borealis sparks the sky. The colors swirl and dance above him in the pool of stars. The lights peak and dip and start to shower down on our Narwhal, he notices the warmth of her embrace. Enchanted by the Northern Lights and warmed by her touch he wraps his tail around to hold her close. Brought back from the edge of despair, our narwhal is carried back to his clan through the celestial rainbow shower of light, in her arms."

A Documentary by Jared Levy. (from http://vimeo.com/jaredlevymedia) kudos Jared!
65 Graffiti artists from 13 countries descend upon São Paulo, Brazil for the 1st Biennial International "Graffiti Fine Art" Exhibition at the MuBE Museum.
In an art world where semantics matter, graffiti artists from around the world wonder what exactly is 'Graffiti Fine Art'. After all, once graffiti leaves the street... is it even graffiti at all?

UNICEF Announces 2011 UNICEF Tap Project to help Provide Safe, Clean Drinking Water to Children around the World

DR. GABRIEL SALLOUM AND MCPS HOST UNICEF TAP PROJECT EVENT TO HELP UNICEF PROVIDE SAFE DRINKING WATER FOR CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD
Miami, FL - May 21st, 2011 Dr. Gabriel Salloum and the Miami Center for Plastic Surgery will be hosting a silent art auction to raise funds for the UNICEF Tap Project. Talented artists from all over the South Florida area have donated their artwork for this amazing cause. The event will highlight these exceptional artists and their pieces, with all proceeds from the sales going to support UNICEF Tap Project.
Now in its fifth year, the award-winning UNICEF Tap Project,is a nationwide campaign from the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. The first program of its kind, the UNICEF Tap Project has become a national movement that affords anyone the opportunity to help provide the world’s children access to safe, clean water. Through numerous fundraising and volunteer activities, the UNICEF Tap Project celebrates the clean water we enjoy on daily basis by giving its celebrity, restaurant, volunteer, corporate, and government supporters the opportunity to give water back to the children around the world via the theme “When You Take Water Give Water”.
During World Water Week, restaurants across the United States will encourage patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free. Participating restaurants will once again receive a toolkit containing materials which include all the resources necessary to execute the UNICEF Tap Project by engaging customers to support UNICEF water programs by adding a donation of $1 or more per person to their bill. In 2010 alone, nearly 1,000 restaurants and more than 4,200 volunteers from all 50 states participated in the national campaign, making it the largest volunteer mobilization effort for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
UNICEF Tap Project Volunteers will be supporting efforts by conducting local fundraising events and activities. Thousands of restaurants, dining patrons, students and volunteers, along with corporate, community, celebrity and governments supporters have made the UNICEF Tap Project a powerful national movement.
All funds raised will support UNICEF's water, sanitation and hygiene programs, and the effort to bring clean and accessible water to millions of children around the world. Countries slated to receive 2011 funding include Viet Nam, Togo and Central African Republic
For the fourth consecutive year, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. is providing funding to support the UNICEF Tap Project volunteer program, which includes recruitment, training, resources and support to thousands of volunteers who will lead on-the-ground efforts for the UNICEF Tap Project in their local communities.
Founding agency partner Droga5 and MediaVest will support the initiative once again creating a high profile, pro-bono ad campaign that will place the UNICEF Tap Project in various mediums throughout the nation leading up to and during World Water Week. The UNICEF Tap Project will also have the support of returning supporters from online dining sites ZAGAT.com OpenTable.com, SeamlessWeb.com, and Yelp.com.
Since its inception in 2007, the UNICEF Tap Project has raised nearly $2.5 million in the U.S. and has helped to provide clean water to millions of children around the world. UNICEF works in more than 150 countries around the world to improve access to safe water and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and to promote safe hygiene practices. Over the past 16 years, more than a billion people gained access to improved drinking water and sanitation facilities thanks to UNICEF’s efforts.
About UNICEF
UNICEF has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in more than 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.
UNICEF is at the forefront of efforts to reduce child mortality worldwide. There has been substantial progress: the annual number of under-five deaths dropped from 13 million in 1990 to 8.8 million in 2008. But still, 22,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood. For more information, visit www.unicefusa.org.

Betsey Johnson – www.betseyjohnson.comNEW YORK DESIGNER BETSEY JOHNSON has built her long-standing career in fashion by following her own set of rules. Known for her celebration of the exuberant, the embellished, and the over the top, Betsey has been rocking the fashion industry with her unique and original designs since the 1960′s. Her commitment to remain true to her one-of-a-kind vision has afforded Betsey continued success in an industry known for its fickleness. Her ability to change with the times while keeping her designs pure has not gone unnoticed. At the 1999 CFDA Awards, Betsey was presented The Timeless Talent Award created especially for her, which recognized her influence on fashion throughout her career.
Kazilla – www.kazilla.biz
Kazilla aka Cassie Williams is a young artist who’s style bounds between the street arts and fine arts. Originally from Santa Fe, NM she currently exhibits the breadth of her work in Miami, FL. After moving to the east coast her work has transcended the street arts and combined her two styles of fine art and graffiti to create an edgy, colorful clash of two very different worlds. The feminine figures, surreal landscapes and vibrant colors create a daunting visual feast for all audiences. She also works as a live artist, designer, muralist, photographer, producer, lyricist, singer and musician.

Deviantart.com interviews me @ Multiversal 2010, during Art Basel Miami
i'm a big fan of deviantart.com, you can tell cuz i wouldnt' stop going on and on like a blushing teenager stumbling for words.
you can almost touch the energy radiating out of me. a direct result of near 10,000 people coming thru Multiversal for the weekend of Art Basel. such a high energy show with all the exhibitions, fests, feats and jawdroppers that coursed thru the days and into the nights.
I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to meet such visionaries that are currently representing Deviant Art. Its refreshing to see activists within their community progressively sharing the wealth of their social network.
By the time i met up with Nicole and heather from DA, i was on a different level of vibrations. these chics were so hip too. we spent a while talking and building on ideas for our artistic communities and the future. It was a rare and elevating experience to kick it with these hip kitties.

Ground Zero Crew Presents
Who Can Roast The Most ? 13 Miami, Florida
Saturday October 23rd
...Since 1999, Who Can Roast The Most? has grown to be recognized as a Premier B-boy (Break Dancing) Event which is been acclaimed as a “MUST” by dancers, and fans in Miami, and beyond. The event has been traditionally produced by “Ground Zero Crew”, the Miami-based, world renowned break-dancing Group. The event has been held for over a decade in multiple venues including South Florida, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and New York City. Saturday, October 23rd WCRTM returns to its birth place of Miami Florida for its 13th installation. This return is especially significant as marks the return of the classic combatants of WCRTM or rather the first Bboys to do the 1vs.1's later described below. All of Miami's most legendary bboys return to battle it out with the Worlds best.
The event derives its name from the terminology used when a dancer or crew are “out-done in a battle”, or lose in a competitive dance situation: , "Oh you got roasted!". Indeed, Who Can Roast the Most? boasts its exceptional popularity among the Global B-boy Community, for its unique formula and approach. It has come to be recognized as the ultimate in “One-on-One Battles”,staying clear of the well treaded contests that are ubiquitous among the scene, by bringing together a cast of characters drawing from talent pools from opposite geographical locations culminating in an energetic experience of stylistic dynamism. The best B-boys and B-girls in the East or South East face off against the best in the West and Mid-West. Participants undergo a grueling 10 rounds of competitive dancing where their talent and stamina are tested to their limit. All in ALL, the event promotes excellence in performance, without seeking to declare one of the sides Victorious! That’s Right! There is NO Winner announced to add to the hype, and the event features NO JUDGES. Fans do vote online for who they want to see perform. And what they consider to be dream matches, and “Who Can Roast the Most?” turns them into a reality!

And what they consider to be dream matches, and “Who Can Roast the Most?” turns them into a reality!

i find myself between a rock and a hard place.
the rock is my art. my foundation. my creative force. my drive in life.
the hard place is my job, which is sucking up every moment of free time i have, leaving me wanting and longing for all those times i used to rock.
sometimes we have to do what we have to do, but what is it worth? is it valuble to forsake those things you stirive for just to make the almighty dollar?
therefor lies my conundrum.
